Jay Dyer argues a transcendental case for God: that logic, mathematics, universals and moral obligation are not brute features of the world but presuppose a personal, intelligent ground, and that only a Triune God supplies one. He presses rivals — materialism, nominalism, Islamic occasionalism, Protestant sola scriptura — on whether their own foundations can account for the reasoning they are performing while objecting.

Van Til (1895–1987) argued that no fact is intelligible outside the Christian framework, and that apologetics should therefore proceed by internal critique: grant the unbeliever's position for the sake of argument and show that on its own terms it destroys the possibility of knowledge.
